Neon Genesis Evangelion: Ayanami Rei 05

neon genesis evangelion cosplay - ayanami rei 05Actually, I’m not sure whether this is intended to be a cosplay of Ayanami Rei or Ikari Yui.
You see, Rei is only a human vessel, something created in order to contain a soul. She was created by Gendo who had lots his wife during a test experiment on an Eva Unit. Yui disappeared, and it is said her soul resides in Eva.
With such a hair color, this cosplayer appears to be more like Yui than Rei, but I don’t recall Yui wearing a plug suit, so I think Rei would be more suitable. Beautiful cosplay!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Soryu Asuka Langley 03

neon genesis evangelion cosplay - soryu asuka langley 03

When she was only 4-years-old, Asuka participated in a contact experiment with Unit 02. Although she physically survives the test, Asuka’s mother, Soryu Kyoko Zeppelin became mentally unstable. She believed that a doll was the real Asuka and referred to her daughter as “that girl over there”. As a scientist of Gehirn's German Branch of the Evangelion Project, she was institutionalized, but she eventually committed suicide by hanging herself. Asuka was the one who found her body when she was going to tell her mother that she has been selected to become an Eva Pilot.

A rather sad childhood for Asuka… Cute cosplay anyway! I love her A10 nerve clips and the color of her hair. Thanks to Mina for sending this in!

Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance: Makinami Mari Illustrious

evangelion: 2.0 you can (not) advance cosplay - makinami mari illustriousThe pilot of the Provisional Evangelion Unit-05, very little is known about Mari, and her designation amongst the other Children has yet to be revealed. She has poor eyesight and is shown to have a difficult time locating her glasses when she dropped them from the collision with Ikari Shinji while parachuting. She also seems to have a fetish for LCL, as she appreciates Shiji's "smell of LCL".

Megane Complex sent this in and tells me this is another photo from Winter Comiket 2009 that I have yet to feature. Honestly, I wouldn't even know which anime she's from if it wasn't for the contributor. Thanks again for the email!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Soryu Asuka Langley 02

neon genesis evangelion cosplay - soryu asuka langley 02Born and raised in Germany, Soryu Asuka Langley is said to be a half-Japanese, half-German girl, but her nationality is technically American. She is considered to be a child prodigy, earning a University degree when she is still a teenager and easily becoming fluent in Japanese. She is European in appearance thanks to her father's lineage.

Comiket sure has a lot of great cosplayers. Cosplay Holic reader Mikan gave me a link to Moeyo showing a vast collection of different cosplayers she thought I might like to feature. This Asuka is definitely quite amazing. Thanks Mikan! And thanks to Moeyo for the awesome photography!
