xxxHolic: Ichihara Yuuko

A mysterious and powerful magician, Ichihara Yuuko has a playful, free-spirited personality and is highly respected in the spirit realm. Although she grants her customers' wishes, Yuuko does not involve herself with them directly, appearing to prefer to stay in the background, controlling the situation without letting anyone know about it.
Yuuko is often associated with the symbol of a butterfly which, in Eastern philosophy is the symbol of a person's soul and transformation.
Patsy, a reader of Cosplay Holic, sent me this picture about a month ago. It took me a while to get this up as there were a lot of pending photos I had to post first. Most of my pictures are sent in be readers themselves, so... well, you get the idea.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Ayanami Rei 05

Actually, I’m not sure whether this is intended to be a cosplay of Ayanami Rei or Ikari Yui.

You see, Rei is only a human vessel, something created in order to contain a soul. She was created by Gendo who had lots his wife during a test experiment on an Eva Unit. Yui disappeared, and it is said her soul resides in Eva.

With such a hair color, this cosplayer appears to be more like Yui than Rei, but I don’t recall Yui wearing a plug suit, so I think Rei would be more suitable. Beautiful cosplay!

~Fruits Basket: Souma Kisa

The cursed tiger of the Souma Family, Kisa was bullied by her classmates for her strange colored hair and eyes. She was ashamed of being bullied and ended up not speaking a word for some time, making her mother worry about her.
Kisa loved her mother dearly and ran away from home when she realized she was causing her so much pain. She was later found by Hatsuharu and cared for by Tohru, who understood her very well having been bullied herself. They became very close as the series progresses, and Kisa finally spoke thanks to the support she got from Tohru, Haru, and Yuki.
She's so adorable! Just like the Kisa I'm familiar with. And I really like the color of her eyes too! Wonderful job!

Katekyo Hitman Reborn!: Rokudo Mukuro

A 15-year-old Mafia criminal, Rokudo Mukuro escaped an Italian prison which held some of the most dangerous Mafia criminals when he was about to be executed. He then went to Japan with his two subordinates, enrolled in Kokuyo Junior High School and started the Kokuyo Gang. Although he plays an antagonist’s role in the first part of the series, he later possessed Chrome Dokuro and took on a more supportive role, even though he prefers not to associate with them.

Toradora!: Aisaka Taiga 03

When Aisaka Taiga's school opened their swimming pool for the summer, Taiga had a difficult time buying swimsuits due to her small stature. She often had to buy clothes from the children’s department, much to her frustrations and refused to buy a kid’s swimsuit. Takasu Ryuji later finds out her distress and decides to help her out.

I can relate to Taiga having a hard time picking swimsuits, but for different reasons and I’m sure every girl has that concern! Cosplayer Minosa was really able to catch Taiga’s personality really well and that impossible hair! Thanks to *blurmage for the excellent photography!

Kingdom Hearts II: Riku 03

Although Riku became a physical manifestation of Xenahort's Heartless, Riku continued to help Sora in secret. He was ashamed of his appearance and was able to gain the Way to the Dawn Keyblade. Riku was able to return to his original form when Ansem the Wise’s machine digitally sealed away Kingdom Hearts, later malfunctioning and then self-destructs.

Bleach: Luppi

Promoted to the 6th Espada when Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez lost his arm, Luppi is an arrogant Arrancar who boasts constantly in battle. He is known for saying “Sorry!” in a sarcastic manner after insulting someone and tends to note the odds against his enemies out loud. He and Ichimaru Gin appear to be in good terms, as Gin mentions he is lonely after Luppi’s death in the hands of Grimmjow.

Beautiful cosplay! I remember Luppi being quite androgynous, but I think this cosplayer’s definitely a girl. Thanks to Galimar for sending this in!

The Vision of Escaflowne: Kanzaki Hitomi

A member of her school’s track team, Kanzaki Hitomi has a strong fascination for tarot cards and fortune-telling. She received a set of tarot cards and a mysterious pendant from her grandmother when she was only a small child. Since then, her hunches and tarot readings have been unusually accurate. It was only when she meets Van Fanel and is sent to Gaea that Hitomi learns of the true origins of her pendant, and her connection to Gaea.

Cosplayer Kiryuu Tsubaki-hime (桐生椿姫) is the girl in this photo. I don’t remember what Hitomi’s pendant really looks like, but the one she’s holding looks good nonetheless! Thanks to Fumiki for sending this in!

Vampire Knight: Kuran Kaname 10

Revealed to be the first ancestor of the Kuran Family, Kaname was awakened from his slumber at the sacrifice of his descendents’, Haruka and Juuri’s, child. Rido murdered the baby, who ironically had the same name, with the intent of devouring their ancestor to strengthen his own powers.

Kaname was able to stop Rido’s plans temporarily, but was too badly injured and starved after several years of sleep that he knew he could go berserk at any moment. Kaname then chose to fall into Haruka and Juuri’s mercy and turn himself into a baby, a form that would not need a lot of blood in order to survive, and put his own memories to sleep so that it would not get in the way.

The second character to reach 10 different cosplay features in Cosplay Holic! I didn’t know this series was so popular, specifically this character as there have been a lot of fan bashing lately. Thanks to Blood Red Princess for sending this in!

RG Veda: Kendappa-O

The queen of the Kendappa tribe, Kendappa-O serves as the royal musician and is one of the prophesized Six Stars. As the rest of the Stars gathered together to overthrow the treacherous reign of Taishakuten, it is revealed that Kendappa-O is Taishakuten’s shitenno, Jikokuten, the shitenno and bushinsho of the East. She believes that Taishakuten is the strongest person in Heaven and swore herself to his service when she was just a small child.

Gyakuten Saiban: Yahari Masahi

Well-known for his unbelievable antics in school, Larry Butz is a childhood friend of Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth. He is a flight-of-fancy character and is quite prone to yelling fits. He’s had several jobs and several girlfriends over the years, but can never seem to keep either one for a long period of time.

Nevertheless, he remains happy with his life, despite finding himself caught between court cases. As the saying goes: “When something smells, it’s usually the Butz.”

Awesome cosplay! It’s too bad the photo is a little blurry, but the cosplayer really got the character down! I wonder if there are any other characters from the series who cosplayed with him? Thanks to Rue for sending this in!

Kingdom Hearts II: Rikku

A miniature version of her original Final Fantasy X-2 design, Rikku appears in Kingdom Hearts II as a little fairy. She retains most her characteristics in the new game; ditzy, good-natured, and a treasure fanatic like her teammates. Her attire is slightly modified, but retains its FF X-2 feel.

Guilty Gear XX: Bridget 04

When Bridget was still a bounty hunter, Dizzy was one of his targets but defeating her left him unsatisfied. As such, he continued his journey and went after May, a member of the Jellyfish Pirates. Only then did he feel that he had proven his masculinity, and soon after, abandoned his life as a bounty hunter. He made amends with May and later befriended the Jellyfish Pirates.

Even without the white or blonde hair, she still makes a cute Bridget! Reminds me of the chibi cosplayer I posted back in 2009. Thanks to Fumiki for sending this in!

Bleach: Urahara Kisuke 02

With a tendency to drive away his customers at the Urahara Shop, former Captain of the 12th Division Urahara Kisuke is a keen analyst and an avid inventor. He has the ability to discern his opponents’ weaknesses and attack patterns with ease. He trained Kurosaki Ichigo and some of his friends in the store’s cave-like basement, and was able to pass on some of his analytical skills to Ichigo.

The Vision of Escaflowne: Van Fanel

The second son of King Goau and Queen Varie, Van Fanel became the young king of Fanelia when his older brother, Folken Lacour de Fanel, never returned from his test of kingship. Their mother was a Draconian, winged people from Atlantis who were considered to be bearers of bad luck.The brothers were cautioned at a young age against carelessly showing their wings as a mark of their Draconian heritage.

Fujimori Sunao’s alternate personality, Ran is dependent, demanding, and slightly more feminine than his other half. Ran loves Hashiba Sora’s alternate personality, Yoru, and tends to flirt with Sora to bring out Yoru. Ran also never harasses Sunao but will seduce almost anybody else.

Death Note: Ryuzaki L. Lawliet, Yagami Light, and Amane Misa

This photo has been labeled as one of the most popular deviations of all time on Deviant Art. It’s easy to see why as the cosplay and the setting is superb, but a lot of people who became jealous of this popularity gave the cosplayers a hard time.

This is one of the reasons why I don’t allow hateful comments on Cosplay Holic. I do let constructive criticism slide in once in a while, but most of the time, I delete them. Cosplayers work hard on their cosplays, and it’s all for fun. It’s not something that should be taken too seriously.

And yes, everyone, please get it straight, Yagami Light’s cosplayer in this shoot, Jin Joson aka *behindinfinity, is a girl.

Soul Calibur III: Yoshimitsu

Another cosplay from Melbourne Anime Festival 2009, only this time, I do not recognize the character at all.

Photographer and contributor, Bethany, also has no idea what series or game this cosplay is from, but she submitted the photo to me anyway. I’m impressed by all the details in the costume, and it makes me even more curious to know the character and the cosplayer behind the mask.
